Thank you for supporting our Big Give Christmas appeal 2024

You donated over £30,000 which means that in total, with match funding and Gift Aid, we raised an incredible £76,576!

Every £10 can cover the cost of one life-saving conversation - with your support, we raised enough to cover the cost of 7,657 conversations.

Why we need your support

Over the festive season, negative feelings such as grief, loneliness or depression can be amplified. This takes place when many other services are winding down for the year and there is less support available for people who are struggling.

Over the Christmas period, nearly 30,000 people will text Shout for support with their mental health. In 40% of the conversations we take at Christmas, texters report having suicidal thoughts. 59% say they texted us because they have no one else to talk to.

Thanks for being there at a time when all the other helplines are closed. Also thanks for being a text service because some things are too hard to talk about out loud, and texting is much easier.

Your impact

Shout Volunteers take around 2,000 conversations with children, young people and adults every single day. At Christmas, our service is a lifeline for many, with 75% of texters contacting us out of hours when traditional services are closed.

By donating between midday 3 December - midday 10 December, your gift (however big or small) will be doubled. It will help us to support a further 6,000 people this Christmas - support that could be life-saving.
