Supporting the mental health of those who work and travel on the rail network
This summer, we will be launching a new partnership with the rail industry to support the mental health of people working and travelling on the UK’s rail network.
With a particular focus on suicide, the rail industry partnership will work on a range of activities to help prevent rail suicides and support those affected by them, including rail staff, commuters and local communities, particularly around the highest risk locations.
As the UK’s first and only free, 24/7 text mental health support service, Shout takes around 2,000 conversations every day with young people and adults in distress. Shout is confidential, non-judgemental and available to anyone, any time of the day or night.
Our trained volunteers work to move texters from a state of crisis to a calmer, safer place with a plan to move forwards. Texters most commonly reach out to us when they are struggling with suicidal thoughts, depression, anxiety, relationship problems and self-harm.
The new rail industry partnership plans to promote our 24/7 digital support in over 40 locations through a targeted creative campaign.
