Your wellbeing while fundraising

It's important to be safe while fundraising! Here our some of our top tips for looking after yourself and making the most out of your fundraising activities for Shout.

The Ice Bucket Challenge

If you have any underlying health conditions, please consider them carefully before taking part, and always consult your GP or healthcare provider. Your health is always the top priority.

The challenge is best enjoyed as a one-time event. Repeated exposure to cold water can put unnecessary strain on your body, so take it easy and enjoy it in moderation.

Ensure you're performing the challenge on a dry, non-slippery surface. Avoid doing it near water, on a wet floor, or anywhere there’s risk of falling.

Be cautious when tipping the bucket. Ensure you're tilting it away from your face to avoid accidentally inhaling water.

This is a fun and voluntary activity. If you’re not comfortable taking part for any reason, that’s perfectly fine! Likewise, if you’ve nominated someone else, make sure they feel comfortable too. Respect their choice and don’t pressure them.

Whenever you're taking part in a challenge like this, be mindful of the amount of water you use and where you throw it. If you're in a garden, consider it an opportunity for some very quick (cold) watering!
