Amy tour de france challenge
28 July 2025

Amy makes history as first woman to complete men's Tour de France for Shout and The Mix

Endurance cyclist and fundraiser Amy has made history by becoming the first woman to complete the entire men’s Tour de France route - including the demanding transfers between stages.

Testimonials

"I wanted to do something to raise money to give back and prove that a woman can ride the men's [Tour de France], plus the transfers as well."

Amy

In 2021, while working as a mental health nurse, Amy began experiencing severe anxiety and intrusive thoughts, eventually making the decision to leave her job. Her husband Kyle bought her a bike - a gift that made an incredible difference to her mental health and led her to endurance cycling.

Her Tour de France challenge this summer was the ultimate test, taking her a month in total: over 6,400km, nearly 75,000 meters of elevation and more than 280 hours in the saddle.

Amy documented her whole journey on social media across YouTube and Instagram, inspiring thousands of people by sharing her story, struggles and successes along the way:

Testimonials

Hopefully it inspires people to not give up when it gets hard because I was close to giving up at one point in my life and I'm glad that I didn't because I wouldn't be here doing this."

Amy

In addition to taking on one of the toughest endurance feats in cycling, Amy used the challenge as a platform to fundraise for Shout and The Mix.

So far, Amy has raised over £90,000 in total, with donations still coming in. We couldn't be more proud of Amy's success in her challenge, or more grateful for her support by choosing us as her charity for this journey.

She recently shared more about her story and experience with BBC News. Read the article in full here.
