Shout - here for the LGBTQ+ community during Pride and beyond
My name is Michael and I’m Shout’s Clinical Practitioner Manager. My time at Shout started in 2018 when I became a Shout Volunteer, before the official service launch in May 2019.
At the time, I was working in the NHS as a Registered Mental Health Nurse. I left the NHS after 20 years to take up a permanent role at Shout and now manage our team of Clinical Practitioners.
Testimonials
We are here for everyone during June, but as it’s Pride Month, we wanted to remind anyone in the LGBTQ+ community we are here for YOU! We have a lot of experience in working with my community and are here to offer a friendly and non-judgemental ear.
41% of Shout texters identify as LGBTQ+ and we are a confidential and supportive place to turn if you need help at any time of day or night.
I feel the work we do at Shout is vital. We offer a safe, confidential place for anyone to reach out and seek support via text - even better, it's free! Our work couldn't happen without our dedicated, committed, selfless volunteers who give up their free time with their friends and family to support our texters - the human kindness we see from our volunteers is often overwhelming.
Testimonials
Pride can mean many things for individuals but Pride, for me, is about community, acceptance, non-judgemental attitudes and happiness.
If you need any support, know that we are here, 24/7, 365 days a year…. Pride (and our text support) isn't just for June!
