10 ways to support Shout this Christmas
There are so many ways you can support Shout this festive season. From buying a charity advent calendar or Christmas jumper to kicking off your new year with a festive fundraising walk, we’ve listed the top ten ways you can help keep our lifeline open this Christmas!
1. Become a monthly donor for 2025
The simplest way to support Shout is to donate - just £10 can help someone in distress access an hour of mental health support this Christmas.
Whether you'd like to make a one-off contribution or set up a recurring donation for 2025, your support allows us to continue providing free and confidential help around the clock for anyone in the UK who needs urgent support with their mental health.
2. Order an Advent of Change calendar
Make a difference to Shout and 23 other fantastic causes by purchasing a charity advent calendar.
You’ll reveal a new charity behind each of the 24 doors, with each representing a donation and letting you know just how your contribution could be used.
3. Sign up to the London Winter Walk
The London Winter Walk is the perfect way to kickstart the new year! There are full marathon, half marathon and 10k options available on 25 and 26 January. By signing up, you’ll get a free bobble hat and neck buff, plus hot food and a medal to collect at the finish line.
4. Make a difference with charity Christmas cards and gifts
Every purchase from our online shop raises awareness and helps people across the UK who are struggling to cope. Alongside our Christmas collection, we have a range of stickers, mugs, water bottles, phone cases and more, perfect for stocking fillers. The deadline for UK shipping before Christmas is 18 December.
If you know someone who'd prefer a donation in their name instead of a physical gift, you can browse a huge range of designs and order personalised charity Christmas cards through our partners at Making a Difference. If you’d rather to go green and send e-cards this year, find a design here and donate the cost of your card and stamp to Shout instead! Both options allow you to donate any amount alongside the card you're sending.
5. Put a date in your diary for the Big Give
We’re very excited to have been selected to take part in the Big Give Christmas Challenge 2024, the UK’s leading match funding campaign.
That means that from 3 - 10 December, your donations will be DOUBLED!
If you’re able to, we’d love you to save the date and donate during this week in December. One donation, twice the impact! To keep up to date with this challenge and other exciting events, sign up to our supporter newsletter.
6. Dress up and join Santa in the City!
This annual run starts by St Paul's Cathedral and takes you through the city, past famous London views. There's no experience needed - you can run, jog or walk for Shout on 4 or 5 December.
Santas, sign up here!
7. Carol singing
An evening of carols and festive songs is a great way to bring people together while fundraising. Hold a traditional service or jazz it up with karaoke or an open mic, collecting a small donation from anyone who'd like to come along.
Once you have a plan, you can always tie in other festive fundraising activities - consider providing food and drinks for a donation, or hosting a charity raffle.
8. Hold a festive fundraiser with friends or colleagues
Looking for inspiration? You could:
- Set up a gift wrapping station for donations
- Hold a fancy dress or Christmas jumper day
- Host a festive challenge: you could hold a 'deck your desk' competition, plan a themed quiz or even plan a bake-off!
9. Christmas crafts
Now's the perfect time to get crafting! Plan for an afternoon or evening with friends, family or colleagues, where everyone can give a small donation to take part. You could make wreaths, crackers, baubles or Christmas cards. If baking is more your speed, consider holding a coffee morning or bake sale for Shout with loads of festive-themed goodies!
10. Host your own Winter Olympics
If you're looking for the ultimate competition, consider holding a workplace or university Winter Olympics. Set a series of themed challenges or small events, pull together your teams and compete for first place! You could take a small donation from participants, and invite friends and family to come along, cheer you on and support your fundraiser.
However you choose to support Shout, it really does make all the difference to the children, young people and adults who need us.
