The Great Big Shout Out
This April, make some noise for The Great Big Shout Out; our campaign to bring the music community together in support of the mental health of those in the industry.
What's it all about?
A staggering 73% of independent musicians struggle with mental illness and people working in music are three times more likely to struggle with anxiety or depression than the general population.
That's why we're working with Headstock to raise awareness and vital funds to support anyone in the music industry, from musicians to the incredible people working tirelessly behind the scenes.
How to get involved
Whether you’re a musician, student, or live music venue, this is your chance to raise the roof for an important cause.
By hosting or participating in a fundraiser, you’ll help ensure that no one in the music industry faces their mental health challenges alone.
Here are some ways you might want to get involved.
Venues
Add an optional donation of £1 - £2 at checkout for any gigs in April
Ask customers to round up their bar or ticket purchases to the nearest pound, with the difference donated to Shout
Host an open mic or ‘unplugged’ night where artists make a small donation to play, or a portion of entry fees are donated
A space in your venue where customers can leave messages or dedications in exchange for a small donation
Musicians
Bring people together and fundraise while showcasing your talent!
In a band or choir? Donate proceeds from one performance in April to support the cause
Take your talent to the streets, or gather friends together and busk for donations
If you’re a legend behind the deck or simply know how to throw a party, you
could put on your own TGBSO club night
Students
Hold a gig, karaoke, open mic or club night at your student union or favourite local venue
Plan a music-themed quiz for friends and other student, donating the entry fee to Shout
With all proceeds supporting TGBSO
Exchanging skills with friends and other students through short coaching sessions, payable with a donation
