World Suicide Prevention Day

Can you join us in making a pledge to create hope through action this World Suicide Prevention Day?

Whether it’s starting a conversation with a friend, taking on a fundraising challenge or signing up to become a Shout Volunteer to help people in distress, your actions can make a difference.

Creating hope through action

Every year on 10 September people and organisations around the globe come together to mark World Suicide Prevention Day.

Every day, Shout Volunteers take hundreds of conversations with people experiencing suicidal thoughts. In fact, suicide is the main reason people text Shout for support, accounting for 39% of all conversations.

So far this year, more than 40,000 people have texted us for support with suicide.

By raising awareness of suicide, encouraging understanding and offering support, we can help to provide hope to those who are struggling with suicidal thoughts.

We're making a pledge

In line with the theme of creating hope through action, for World Suicide Prevention Day 2022 we’re encouraging our staff, volunteers, texters, partners and the general public to make a pledge - no matter how big or small - to support suicide prevention.

Will you join us?
