Don't Hide Your Unhappy

Don't Hide Your Unhappy

You don't need to hide behind a smile.

You can talk with us over text 24/7. It’s a free service available to everyone in the UK, and it won’t show up on your phone bill.

Whatever's going on, letting it out can help. And when you text us, there's a trained volunteer at the other end to talk with you - silently, by text message - until you feel calmer.

Text 'LET IT OUT' to 85258.

Testimonials

As a Shout Volunteer I want to help young and Black people feel heard and understood. I didn’t know anyone like me with mental health issues and didn’t know where to turn, but Shout is there for you 24/7, with people who can listen and help.

How does it work?

➡️ Send a text (not WhatsApp!) saying 'LET IT OUT' to 85258

➡️ We'll connect you to a volunteer. This takes about 5 minutes, but can be longer when we're busy

➡️ The volunteer will introduce themselves and ask what you'd like to talk about

➡️ Text back and forth, sharing what you're comfortable with

➡️ As well as listening without judgement, our volunteers may give you resources or tools to help you get more support.

Testimonials

"Being a SHOUT volunteer has brought new meaning to the saying - problem shared is a problem halved. Growing up, speaking out about my problems wasn't seen as 'manly'. Now that I've matured I know different - it's much more helpful to speak up about whatever issues you may be facing, it helps to know you're not alone."
